Our Family

Apart from being long-time dog breeders, our family loves to have fun. We feel very fortunate to be in Utah where there are so many outdoor activities to keep us busy year round. In the winter we have skiing (cross-country and downhill), snowboarding, snow shoeing, and ice skating. In the summer we have camping, fishing, beautiful mountain hikes, rafting, canoeing, repelling, rock climbing, and boating activities on nearby lakes and reservoirs.

We also are a highly musical family. Our piano rarely gets a rest and we attend concerts and performances for 5 choirs that have members in our home. Life is great and we are so thankful for the blessings we enjoy everyday in our family. Religion plays a key role in our home and it gives us cause to find joy and happiness in everything around us.

Our Story

We are a family that has always had a strong love of dogs. Our first ‘baby’ was a darling American Eskimo back in 1995, months after our marriage began. That beautiful girl created beautiful puppies and was a joy to have in our home.

As our family grew and we were blessed with children we began to notice that certain attributes of some breeds of dog worked very well in a family atmosphere, while others did not. Some dogs are great with its family, but snappy with family friends. Other dogs are very playful and energetic, but also very anxious when the weather changes! And there are some that are so sweet and have such a perfect balance of playfulness and calm, but that make our eyes water and noses drip from allergies!

A few years back we became breeders of Golden Retrievers. Each litter has been such a wonderful experience for our family. To our family, puppies are just magical! We eagerly watch as they grow in their mama’s tummy, are thrilled to see their little faces when they are delivered, and marvel as they move through each milestone of growth and maturity. Our puppies have been amazing and have had exciting lives! We have had puppies that have been trained as service dogs, some who have gone to hunting school, and even one that participated in Doggie Surf lessons! And many, of course, have proven to be great at just being the love of their family’s lives.

We have been blessed by meeting many wonderful families that are well prepared and eager to adopt one of our puppies. Our hearts just break when someone has just the right home to offer, but after some exposure realizes that allergies will be to large a problem for them. We have seen this happen multiple times. This has lead us to explore other breeding options! Our research has convinced us that mating our Golden Retriever to a Standard Poodle stud would help us create a puppy that would possibly overcome the allergy hurdle! And the result we became breeders of Goldendoodles!

In the fall of 2014 we began offering our beautiful litters of Bernedoodles! We are very excited to see these darlings! They are puppies that have very gentle temperaments, playful personalities, and beautiful wavy coats with gorgeous markings. See all of the Bernedoodle details on our “What’s a Bernedoodle?” page.

Our Doodles are the best companions you will ever have. Please, enjoy looking around our site and contact us if you have any questions.

Why choose us?

Doodle puppies are our passion! Well, one of them anyway. We are huge fans of dogs and have been forever. We have learned that though we love all dogs, some behaviors and demeanors can make for a difficult relationship. Our goal as a doodle breeder is to create beautiful, healthy puppies that are easy going, well socialized, and ready to be the best companion you will ever have.

How do we do this? First we choose adults based on these characteristics. We look for fun family pets that enjoy interacting with people and are smart and obedient. We look for the ability to be calm and connect with their owners. We also look for dogs who come from generations of strong, healthy ancestry.

We make sure that our pregnant mom is happy and very well taken care of, especially during her final 2 weeks of gestation when she gets awfully uncomfortable carrying those growing puppies! We have found that tummy rubs and scratches behind the ear go a long way with our girls!

Delivery is a hands-on event for us. We take turns in our family to make sure that our girl is never left alone for the many hours leading up to the delivery and of course throughout the delivery. She seems to relax and be comforted by a hand always on her back or rubbing her neck.

When the puppies are born, socialization begins! Our doodle puppies are held and snuggled from the day they are born. They get very used to being handled and learn to trust us from the start. These little guys love to nuzzle right up into our necks and sleep. On their 3rd day we begin Early Neurological Stimulation. Our scent and touch is almost as familiar to them as their mother’s. As the puppies grow we welcome our friends and neighbors to come over and play with them! This helps the puppies adjust to many different faces, scents, and ages.

Our puppies are always kept together. They stay in their roomy whelping box and their mom comes and goes as she pleases. We know it is so important to keep the puppies together for at least 8 weeks. They learn so much from their mom and their siblings! Our puppies also enjoy going outside at least three times a day as a group. They love to run, play, and explore until they are completely tuckered-out! Then, we head back inside for nap-time.

By three weeks of age our puppies begin potty training. We use the very practical method that we learned from Misty Trails Havenese. We begin by separating a potty area from the sleeping area. Doodle puppies naturally do not mess in their sleeping or eating area. This has been very successful and makes training at their new home so much easier!

By 6 weeks old our puppies have been moved out of their whelping box into a larger room and graduated from using Potty Pads to using a Potty Box filled with compressed wood pellets for their bathroom needs. Also at this time we begin crate training a little through the day and a little through the night. During the daytime, we start by placing the puppies in the crates when they are nice and drowsy and letting them rest with the gate closed for an hour. Each day we stretch a little longer until they are easily staying in the crate for a 3-hour block. For the nighttime routine we start by quietly kissing the puppies goodnight, then placing them in their crates, closing the doors, then turning out the light. The first night they usually stay happy for about 3 hours before we take them out, but then each night they sleep deeper and deeper, longer and longer until by 7 weeks they are sleeping for a good 8-hour stretch. This has been accomplished with every litter, so we have no trouble counting on it!

We guarantee the health of our puppies. If within the first two years of their lives they are found to have life threatening, or seriously debilitating genetic defects we will refund up to your full purchase price of the puppy (minus shipping costs). See contract for details. We would never want to leave you with no support should anything this awful come about. All of our puppies have their dew claws removed, are vaccinated, wormed and fully checked by our vet twice before they leave for their new homes. We keep their living area clean and free from anything that could do the puppies harm. Remember, they are our babies before they are your babies!

We are available to you for the life of your dog! We want to hear from you. Do you have questions about training, feeding, or grooming? Ask us! If we don’t know from our own experience we will refer you to great websites or books. We also hope to hear about your fun experiences with these awesome animals! Please share pictures and notes with us!

We are confident that our doodle puppies will bring you so much joy and will be a wonderful addition to your family!
